Traveling to and from Cambodia
By Air
There are different flights between Phnom Penh or Siem Reap and neighboring countries. So if you plan to fly to Cambodia, you can consider flying via other neighboring countries as follows:

Vietnam: There are different daily flights between HCMC – Siem Reap; HCMC – Phnom Penh; Ha Noi – Siem Reap; Ha Noi – Phnom Penh. All flights are operated by Vietnam Airlines.

Thailand: There are daily flights between Bangkok – Phnom Penh operated by Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways; Bangkok – Siem Reap by Bangkok Airways.

Laos: There are flights between Vientiane and Phnom Penh operated by Laos Airlines and Vietnam Airlines; Siem Reap – Vientiane and Phnom Penh – Pakse by Laos Airines.

Singapore: There are different flights between Singapore and Phnom Penh/Siem Reap by Silk Air.

Malaysia: Daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh.

Hong Kong: There are flights  operated by Dragonair between Hong Kong and Phnom Penh.

China: There are flights between Guanzhou – Phnom Penh by China Southern Airlines and between Shanghai – Phnom Penh by Shanghai Airlines.

Taiwan: Eva Air and Mandarin Airlines operate flights between Phnom Penh and Taipei.

Nowadays there are more and more low cost airlines springing up servicing different routes in South East Asia. This makes traveling between different cities in the region easier and with very reasonable costs.

By Land and by Waterways
Vietnam: There are international crossings between Cambodia and Vietnam at Bavet (or Moc Bai, Tay Ninh in Vietnam) and Kaam Samnor (or Chau Doc in Vietnam). The latter is by boat on the Mekong River which offers breathtaking scenery.

Thailand: There are crossings between Thailand and Cambodia at Cham Yeam (Koh Kong); Chorm (Oddar Meanchey); Daung (Kamrieng-Battambang); Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey); Prom (Pailin); O Smach (Oddar Meanchey).

Laos: You can travel between Cambodia and Laos at Dong Kralo (Stung Treng), still by far this route is used mostly by adventure travellers.

Traveling within Cambodia
By Air
There are different airlines in Cambodia including Siem Reap Airways, President Airlines, Royal Air Cambodge and Royal Phnom Penh Airways servicing different routes in the country. There are different flights from/to Phnom Penh to/from other destinations in the country including Siem Reap, Battambang, Stung Treng and Ratanakiri.

By road
The road system in Cambodia is still in poor conditions even though there have been great efforts and fund to improve it. At the time of writing the roads between Phnom Penh and the coastal areas, between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, between Phnom Penh and Battambang are in fairly good conditions. There are daily local buses commuting these destinations. The prices are very local, so is the quality. Alternatively you can choose to hop-on and to hop off the pick-up trucks used popularly by the locals, it may be fun and definitely an adventure experience.

By river
The Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers help make transport easier between different areas in Cambodia. You can travel by the waterway between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, between Battambang and Siem Reap and between Siem Reap - Phnom Penh and the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. Traveling by the waterway not only helps make you journey convenient and easy, but also offers a nice picture of Cambodia from a different angle.

By train
The railroads and the train in Cambodia offer you a journey and a real adventure back to the early time of railroad history. There are 02 rail lines in the country: Phnom Penh – Pursat – Battambang (about 400 km) and Phnom Penh – Takeo – Kampt – Kep – Sihanoukville (about 270 km). Traveling by train is cheap and there are plenty of opportunities to engage in the local life. However problems with the locomotive or/and with broken bridges may offer you a night in the middle of nowhere.

By Motorcycle
Cambodia is extremely excellent for the adventure motorcyclists as it has systems of dirt roads. Traveling by motorbikes in Cambodia is a fun adventure which offers you plenty of opportunities to see the less-seen parts of the country. Still in the rainy seasons, some roads turn to be very bad and you might want to check information very carefully before setting off.

Bike Bike
Cycling between different destinations in Cambodia is quite tough an experience for most adventurous travellers due to the hot and humid weather and the bad roads. However with light traffic and scenic countryside you can stay at a city as a base and do a one day cycling trip to discover the areas and the surroundings. It could be a fun experience and it makes your trip in Cambodia more relaxing. You can go cycling around Phnom Penh, Battambang or amid the ruins of the Temples of Angkor.
