Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville is characterized by lines of palm trees, white sand beaches and untouched offshore islands. Sihanoukville is not as popular as other resort areas in neighboring Thailand, but popular enough for the well-to-do Khmers from Phnom Penh at weekends. The town has 04 beaches including Ochheuteal, Sokha, Independence and Victory which promise a relaxing away-from-the-crowd beach vacation. Besides the nearby Ream National Park with its rich wild life offers a great eco and adventure boat tour.

Travel and tourism in Sihanoukville is still in its infancy, but infrastructure has improved a lot. There's a good beach resort at Sokha Beach and many more are to spring up soon.

Sihanoukville is 232km from Phnom Penh (3-4 hours by road) and there are many daily commuter buses between Sinanoukville and the capital city. Alternatively you can travel by train to Sihanoukville from Phnom Penh, but the journey seems to be very slow and sometimes painfully slow.
