Overview


Rising up from one difficulty to another, the Khmer always leave something for mankind. Cambodia Essential embarks our traveller on a discovery journey travelling through the history and culture of Cambodia. We'll start from Phnom Penh with the highlights of the capital city and end our tour in Siem Reap, home to the celebrated Temples of Angkor.

Learning the magical arts, cherishing the resilience culture and people and sampling the fine Khmer cuisine are the highlights of our trip. Accommodation for our tour is deluxe and best available in each location.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Pnom Penh
Upon arrival in Pnom Penh, you are welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. Free time for a break. Then, we start touring around the capital of Cambodia. We begin the tour at the heart of the capital – The Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. These are among the most spectacular structures of the capital. Afterward, we continue to the National Museum, where relics of the once great Khmer Empire are on display. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 2: Pnompenh – Siem Reap (B/D)
After breakfast you take the morning flight from Pnom Penh to Siem Reap. In the afternoon, we start our discovery in the jungles with visits to the magnificent Angkor Temples. We first visit the Sra Srang – often referred to as the Royal Bath. We then go to the Banteay Kdei – gracefully rests in the jungle, where you find yourself amid the mysterious ruins of the fabled world of Angkor. We continue our drive and we visit the place where the film Tomb Raider was shot in: Ta Prohm temple – with giant roots from the huge creepers overflowed the thousand-year-old walls. Back to Siem Reap town. Overning in Siem Reap.

Day 3: Angkor Wat and the Bayon (B)
Built around the 12th century, Angkor Wat and Angkor City are forever the treasures of the Khmer as well as mankind. The grandeur of Angkor is not to be expressed by word. Today is dedicated to this majestic structures. You are picked up from your hotel after breakfast for a nice journey into the jungles – where the hidden treasure is located.

Our stour start with the celebrated Angkor Wat where our tour guide will reveal some secrets of the Angkor Temples and the magical Khmer Arts. Then we'll move onto the enigmatic Temple of Bayon where the god leaves us unanswered smiling questions forever. We walk to the ancient relics of Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King. Back to town in the afternoon. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Notes: Be sure to be armed with as much film and memory card as possible for your camera before setting off. You'll always need more once there.

Day 4: Departure (B)
You have free time relaxing the quiet town of Siem Reap until our team come back and transfer you back to Siem Reap for your departure. Time to bid farewell to the fabled world of the Angkor Temples  only to come back later!
