Nguom Ngao Cave - Cao Bang
Nguom Ngao Cave is in Dam Thuy Commune, Trung Khanh District, Cao Bang Province. Nguom Ngao Cave is 89 km from Cao Bang Town and 3 km from Ban Gioc Waterfall, the cave is in a limestone mountain range and has most parts underground and some parts under water.
According to the Royal Exploration Team from Britain who inspected the cave in 1995, Nguom Ngao Cave, known by far, has the lengh of 2,144m and can be accessed from 3 openings. We didn't pay much attention to the Nguom Ngao Cave till the late 1990s when too much talk from the locals about the beauty of the cave and requests from our travellers: shame on us! When we travelled to the cave, we had to climb a little hill only to come to a valley which is cultivated with corn by the local Nung Minority. Walking for nearly a km through the valley was disappointing, and when we saw the tiny opening, we thought that rumours were always rumours! And we were wrong...
Passing through the little opening, we merely did our job that since we were there we had to come inside the cave. But, we had seen so many caves in our life! It was only we have passed through the first chamber of the cavern, we were dumb-founded by the beauty revealing!
