Vinh Long
Vinh Long is located in the heart of the Mekong Delta. The province is bordered by Tien Giang Province to the North, by Dong Thap Province to the North West, by Ben Tre Province to the East, by Tra Vinh Province to the South East and by Can Tho Province to the South. The capital city is called Vinh Long Town 136 km from Sai Gon.
Thanks to the Upper (Tien River) and Lower (Hau) Tributaries of the Mekong River, the soil of Vinh Long is ideal for agriculture, aquaculture and horticulture. Vinh Long is famous for its grapefruits, mangoes, mandarins, oranges, longans, rambutans, durians... Besides, traveling in Vinh Long the tourists will be treated with the fresh tiger prawns or elephant fish or basa fish.
Vinh Long's population is over 1 million people including the ethic groups of Kinh, Khmer and Chinese who help make the culture of the area more colorful. Visiting the area, you can tour many of their villages with vanishing occupations such as making bricks, ceramics, rice papers, candies, reed sleeping mats... The area was known to be founded in 1732. There are many islands with exotic water life style to be discovered in and around Vinh Long. One thing the travelers are not allowed to miss is the floating markets.
