Traditionally and ultimately the Vietnamese practice ancestor worshipping. This still plays the most important part of the Vietnamese spiritual life. This tradition actually helps make the spiritual life and religious life in Vietnam very characteristic and colorful. Besides the Vietnamese also practice the worshipping of the Mother of the Land.

People & Population

Vietnam is home to over 54 minorities of which the Kinh accounts for over 87%. They have long history and culture which influences dramatically into the Vietnamese polical and societal life.

History

Brief history of Vietnam: according to the legend, the Vietnamese ancestor was Kinh Duong Vuong whose grave now is in An Lu village, Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province.

Phu Quoc Island

Located in the Gulf of Thailand, the hear-shaped island lies just 62 nautical miles from Rach Gia and nearly 290 nautical miles from Laem Chabang (Thailand). It covers an area of 567 sq. km (about 62 km long and 3-28 km we) and is situated at 10o01'-10o27' north latitude and 103o51'-104o50' east longitude. Its population is approx. 85,000 (2001).

Vinh Long

Vinh Long is located in the heart of the Mekong Delta. The province is bordered by Tien Giang Province to the North, by Dong Thap Province to the North West, by Ben Tre Province to the East, by Tra Vinh Province to the South East and by Can Tho Province to the South. The capital city is called Vinh Long Town 136 km from Sai Gon.
