Phnom Penh City Tour
We’ll start our visit with the notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot's security forces and became the largest center for detention and torture during the rule of the Khmer Rouge. Most of the prisoners here were tortured to death or executed later by the Khmer Rouge. Then we’ll continue with a visit to the Killing Fields at Choeung Ek. Situated 15 km south-west of Phnom Penh and made famous by the film of the same name. This was a place more than 17,000 civilians were killed and buried in massive graves. In the centre of the area is a 7-story glass stupa which houses 8000 skulls exhumed from mass graves.
This afternoon, we’ll leave the dark memories behind and engage in the elegance of Khmer. We will visit Wat Phnom, the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum, with many pre & post Angkor artifacts. We’ll have a stroll on the bank of the Mekong River with scenic view before getting back to the hotel.
