Located on a high flat mountain peack, Cu Vai hamlet reminds people of a makeshift airport on top of the mountain with the runway being the road through the village.

For the past few years, the name Cu Vai - a small hamlet in Hang Xe village, Xa Ho commune, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai - has become famous, especially with young people who are passionate about conquering and discovering.

Previously, Cu Vai was located on a hillside about 2km from the current settlement. However, the old place of residence has many potential risks of landslides, so the province is looking for ways to bring people to a new, safer place to live.

In 2012, after the study by officials from agriculture and rural development sector of Yen Bai, 50 families were move here, right on top of a flat hill.

In early 2013, the ground was cleared, in addition to supporting each family with 10 million VND, the authorities of Tram Tau district and Xa Ho commune also sent officials to the place in order to help the community relocate to the new village.

Cu Vai hamlet belongs to Hang Xe village, with 56 households, there are 50 households on the top level and the other 6 households have settlement in the lower level.

On a flat high mountain, the setting of Cu Vai reminds of a field airport with a runway that crosses the village. But at another angle, Cu Vai looks like a guitar with the roofs close together like the keys on the keyboard.

Cu Vai, in Thai language, means clouds across the sky. Standing here you can enjoy watching the high green mountains on all four sides with white clouds floating in front of you, the feeling that just reaching out your hand can touch the clouds. Coming to Cu Vai in the planting season, the giant mirrors precariously on the side of the mountain reflecting the clouds and sparkling sun.

The small village is isolated from the outside world because the road from the bottom of the slope to the top of the mountain is a significant challenge for those who are passionate about adventure. About on third of the mountain road has been covered by concrete, the rest is known to continue soon so as to make it more convenient for people.

Actually Cu Vai retains a part of the friendly and innocent pristine beauty thanks to this difficult distance. The worry about the loss of traditional values and natural beauty is not unfounded when the distance is removed and tourists flock to it.

However, if there is an action hand in hand, choosing the core values to preserve, Cu Vai deserves to be a real paradise in Tram Tau, not a forgotten paradise.
