Tham village cave, or Tham Luong cave, is a product of nature. From a distance, the cave looks like an underground tunnel in the middle of the mountain.
In 1964, during the American war, the cave was renovated by the Vietnamese army, breaking rocks to open the way up, from there, the cave became a place to hide secret weapons of Vietnam army. In 1966, the cave was dug through the mountain, with a length of 500m. Today, this place has become the way for local people. The cave mouth is wide enough for a car or small truck of 1.5 - 2 tons to pass through, inside the cave, there are wide and narrow sections, difficult to navigate. There are places large enough to put a small Thai house on stilts. The road through the cave is the way for local people, during harvest time it is always crowded with people going in and out to buy and sell agricultural products. On weekdays, there are always people passing by, the two sides of the cave are covered with dirt due to the number of people and vehicles of the people who often go by. In the dark cave, every time people go through here, they have to bring a flashlight or light a fire to light the way.
Those who go through for the first time can't help but feel creepy and get goosebumps because the cave is dark and cold, although the road surface through the cave has been paved with dirt and pebbles, there are still many potholes making it difficult for people to travel.
Behind the road through the mountain is a valley where more than 60 households live in Chun and Tham villages and some households in Cuong Muong village (Tong Lanh commune).
The path from the foot of the mountain to the mouth of the cave must go along the cliff, passersby need to be careful or they may fall into the abyss.
The air in the cave is cool, winter is warm, summer is cool. In the cave, there are many beautiful stalactites, an attractive destination for those who love to explore.
